Parish Pastoral activities – Social Events

‘God is not solitude, but communion.” The communion we experience in the Eucharist, in liturgy and in our parish activities, surrounded by people of different ages, backgrounds and gifts, but still affirming our unified mission with one “Amen,” remains our best model and motivation for communication that builds community, online or offline. Pope Francis 2019 World Communications Day message

The vibrancy and friendliness of the St Mary Magdalen Parish community is reflected in the enthusiasm for participating in social events. These are always very well supported and provide an excellent opportunity for making new friends and reinforcing existing friendships. These events provide the community glue which encourages growth in understanding the importance of service to one another and to others outside the parish. The events include Christmas Day lunch which supports many who would otherwise be isolated on Christmas Day; Valentine’s Day Family Dance which highlights the family; Easter Galilee Day Lunch which gives due prominence to the importance of the Resurrection; Pentecost Party Lunch which celebrates the Holy Spirit, patron of the Spiritans and the Patronal Feast Day which celebrates St Mary Magdalen, the Apostle to the Apostles.

These events are organised by the Parish Events Team and the food, drink and music are provided by the parishioners themselves.
